In an interview published in the Entertainment Weekly that is coming out tomorrow, a few of the American Idol judges discuss comments made on the show that some people — and gay rights group GLAAD — consider to be homophobic.

On the show, both Simon Cowell and host Ryan Seacrest like to make comments that insinuate the other is gay.  In defense of this, Cowell says “We are the least racist, homophobic show in the world. What we do have, thank God, is a sense of humor. I hate political correctness. I wouldn’t go into any show saying anything is off-limits.”

Ellen DeGeneres, an out lesbian and the newest judge on the show, steps in to say that is sensitive to homophobia and acknowledged the issue coming up after Adam Lambert’s loss last season.  Her response on the issue of homophobia in relation to Simon and Ryan’s banter is “At the same time, the stuff that Simon and Ryan do — none of that has ever been offensive to me.”

Many say that being gay in Hollywood is a curse.  Perhaps that is why Chris Colfer, of Glee fame, has been in and out of the closet more time than we can count.  At this point we think he was in, then outed and owned up to it, went back in and Chelsea Handler got him out again last night during his hilarious interview:

He needs to stay out of the closet.  He isn’t fooling anyone and being gay obviously hasn’t hurt him because he’s been on the interview circuit and people are eating him up.  Plus, as far as we can tell, he is a fan favorite on Glee. His character has that extra special flavor “gay” in it that can get him a lot of mileage.

In other news, we are almost certain that Chris Colfer did not kill Bea Arthur.
