Judge Vaughn Walker has ruled that the Prop 8 courtroom showdown set to start next Monday will not be broadcast live on television. There will, however, be a TV pool camera along with a one day delay where the video will be broadcast on YouTube the next day.
Judge Walker’s decision still has to be approved by the 9th Circuit Court in California.
The deadline for public comment is Friday, but it sounds like the decision has already been made, so we’re not sure what, if anything, public comment will do for the matter.
There is a petition in favor of television the battle, with 75,000+ signatures already, that will be delivered to the court on Friday. You may sign it here.

What we will get is edited video – edited to ensure same sex marriage is wrong, too far out there, perverted, will lead America down the tubes. It will ensure that the face and name of anyone who testifies against same sex marriage will not be seen because, God forbid, they will be singled out as a bigot by their peers. Allowing just YouTube video is a huge slap in the face of the gay community. Again, gay people are being treated as less than equal. And don't say they aren't. Change the players – make this a trial involving black people not being able to marry and you can bet your bippy the NCCAA, Jesse Jackson and every black preacher in America would be up in arms, rioting in the streets, on every talk show – Oprah would be outraged. But do it to the gay minority and no one says a word…
It is yet another example of those against equal rights and gay marriage winning.
